Notes from the Road: Boston, MA (October 8, 2022)
Good evening!
It’s been another history-filled and FUN-der-FULL day here in Boston with your children. The day began by taking a step back in time to reenact the brave and patriotic events of the Boston Tea Party.
We then bussed over to the Fenway-Kenmore neighborhood for lunch, before touring the historic Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. Highlights of the tour included the oldest (and least comfortable) seats in all of MLB, taking in the view from the seats atop the Green Monster, A trip to Fenway Farms, the on-site garden where much of the ballpark's concessions produce is grown, and the opportunity to view the park from the pressbox. The tour ended in the memorabilia-filled Royal Rooters Club, where Mr. Percoco shared some personal and historical anecdotes about his beloved Boston Red Sox.
Our final stop of the afternoon was the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, where we split into groups to explore the expansive collection of MFA artwork and artifacts. Many students would have gladly wandered the galleries all evening, and were still eagerly taking in the sights until the museum closed at 5.
We then re-boarded the bus and headed back to the hotel for a short break before walking down Main Street to our final dinner of the trip at Bertucci's. As we looked around the tables at Bertucci's during dinner this evening, it was evident to all of us faculty how much this group has bonded over the past three days. It's been a pleasure to watch them come out of their shells, form new friendships and share these amazing experiences together as an LSAS community.
Tomorrow morning we will walk the Freedom Trail (led by Mr. Percoco) to retrace the footsteps and hear the stories of the American patriots who helped to secure our nation's independence. After that, we will begin the long journey home.
We look forward to reuniting you with your kids, and know that regardless of what they may say, they'll be just as happy to see you as you will be to see them! Once we are on the road we will send a message via text and email with our expected arrival time back in Ashburn, and will send another message when we are less than 30 minutes away.
Have a great evening, and we'll see you tomorrow!
